I CHOSE DAHLONEGA...

It was my family tradition to do lunch on Mother's Day.  We always chose
somewhere special for Nannie, then Mama.  Now that they're gone, it was
up to me to choose for Me.  I chose The Smith House in Dahlonega.  I love
the mountains of North Georgia.  I day trip up there at different times of
the year, Autumn the most beautiful.  Great shopping, and good restaurants,
surrounding a quaint square.  In many ways it reminds me of Colorado.

The Smith House has family style dining, with a gift shop
and a hotel.  Today a lot of the guests were there for graduation.
North Georgia College is located here.  Mama went to school here.

Everyone said I would never be able to get in because of
Mother's Day, and how crowded it would be.  Well,
not if you are first in line.

And I was...

Worse thing about family dining, sitting with strangers.
Best thing about family dining, strangers passing you food.

Yum...

Center of the square

The Ice Cream Parlor, always packed.

Fun restaurants overlooking the square.

Mandatory STOP.

The best Divinity I ever had...

Most unique coffee shop / eclectic gifts, with the most unusual
garden goodies.

Carriage rides around the square.

Lots of shops, with places to sit under beautiful shade trees.
